Cold weather existed over most parts of Saurashtra, Gujarat & Kutch for whole of last week. Cold Wave conditions prevailed over some pockets of Saurashtra, Gujarat & Kutch during this period on most days. Normal Minimum Temperature over whole area gradually decreases as December progresses.

Criteria for Cold Wave Wind chill factor plays an important role and brings down the actual minimum temperature depending upon the wind speed. The actual minimum temperature of a station should be reduced to “wind chill effective minimum temperature (WCTn)” based on wind chill factor using the enclosed table Enclosure I, WMO No. 331/ Tech note No. 123 on “The assessment of human bio-climate. A limited review of physical parameters, 1972). For declaring “Cold Wave” and “Cold Day” WCTn should only be used. If WCTn is 10°C or less, then only the conditions for cold wave should be considered.

a) When normal minimum temperature is equal to 10°C or more. Cold Wave Departure from normal is -5°C to -6°C. Severe Cold Wave Departure from normal is -7°C or less

b) When normal minimum temperature is less than 10°C. Cold Wave Departure from normal is -4°C to -5°C. Severe Cold Wave Departure from normal is -6°C or less.

Forecast: Saurashtra, Gujarat & Kutch: 21st December to 25th December 2015

Maximum and Minimum Temperature will remain below normal. Cold Wave conditions over few pockets of Saurashtra, Gujarat & Kutch and chilly winter weather for rest of the areas on most days of forecast period. Christmas day the 25th December is expected to be the coldest days during the forecast period from 21st to 25th December 2015 while 23rd will be less cold compared to other days. The winds will be from North and Northeast during the forecast period.

મહત્તમ અને ન્યુનત્તમ તાપમાન નોર્મલ થી નીચું રહેશે. આગાહી સમય ના મહત્તમ દિવસો માં સાર્વત્રિક ઠંડી નો માહોલ જણાશે અને અમૂક વિસ્તાર માં કોલ્ડ વેવ છવાશે. તારીખ 21 થી 25 ડીસેમ્બર ના આગાહી સમય ગાળા માં તારીખ 25 ડીસેમ્બર એટલે કે ક્રિસમસ નો દિવસ સૌથી ઠંડો રહેશે.જયારે તારીખ 23 ના બીજા દિવસો કરતા ઠંડી ઓછી રહેશે. નોર્મલ ન્યુનત્તમ તાપમાન પણ જેમ જેમ ડીસેમ્બર મહિનો આગળ ચાલે તેમ તેમ ઘટતું આવશે. પવનો મુખ્યત્વે ઉત્તર અને ઉત્તર પૂર્વ ના રહેશે.
