Deep Depression Tracks Mainly Northwards Over Bay Of Bengal

Current Weather Conditions on 11th December 2009 @ 4.00 pm.

The Deep Depression in the Bay of Bengal has tracked mainly Northwards instead of earler forcast track of North westwards and is currently lying at 9N 84.5E about 300 Kms. East of Shri Lanka Coast and about 550 Kms. South East of Tamilnadu Coast. The Central Pressure of the System is 1000 Mb. with winds of 55 to 65 Kms./Hour with gusts of 75 Kms./Hour.

Forecast:

The System is expected to intensify further to become Cyclonic Storm "WARD" (Tropical Cyclone "Ward"). The System is expected to track in the North Westwards direction during the next 24 Hours.

Heavy rains are forecast for Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu between 12th to 16th December instead of from 11th earlier forecast. This rain amount will be at least three times the normal rainfall for this time of the year for this region.
