There has been morning fog during the last four days in Rajkot and many parts of Saurashtra. The morning humidity has been above 95 % in Rajkot as can be seen from the weekly humidity chart below.

An Anti-Cyclone has been established at 850 Mb. level over Northwest India as can be seen in the COLA maps which also shows that it will stay put for the next five days.

The Upper Tropospheric Humidity has declined over North & Northwest India.

The Southwest Monsoon has further withdrawn from remaining parts of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Rajasthan; entire Uttarakhand, west Uttar Pradesh; most parts of west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat State and north Arabian Sea and some parts of east Uttar Pradesh.

The withdrawal line passes through Lat 28° N / Long. 81° E, Kheri, Kanpur, Bhopal, Khargone, Surat, Veraval, Lat 21° N / Long. 65° E and Lat 21° N /Long. 60° E

The map above indicates that the Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from whole Saurashtra & Gujarat except very small Coastal areas of Saurashtra and some parts of South Gujarat.

There was Cyclonic Circulation over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamil Nadu – South Andhra Pradesh coasts yesterday which now lies over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamil Nadu – Sri Lanka coasts.

Forecast: 17th to 22nd October 2013

Weather will be mainly dry throughout the forecast period. The winds are now changing from Westwards to mainly Northerly direction and from 19th are expected to be from Northerly direction for most part of the day. The humidity is expected to drop daily and by 19th the daytime humidity will decrease to 30 %.

South India is expected to get scattered light to medium rainfall which would increase in quantum during the latter part of the forecast period.
