Current Weather Conditions on 9th June 2014 @ 5.00 pm.

Yesterday’s Low Pressure over the East Central Arabian Sea strengthened further to a Well Marked Low Pressure during the night and was located at 12.7°N & 67.8°E with 25 knots winds and 1002 Mb. Central Pressure.  This System is being monitored by NRL as 95A.INVEST. and at 0700z today 9th June 2014 wind speed was 25 knots with Central Pressure of 1004 Mb. location 12.9°N & 67.0°E.

Monsoon Watch:

Southwest monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of south Arabian sea and Kerala, some parts of central Arabian sea, most parts of coastal Karnataka, some more parts of Tamilnadu, remaining parts of southwest Bay of Bengal and some more parts of westcentral Bay of Bengal.

The northern limit of monsoon passes through 15.0°N/60.0°E, 15.0°N/70.0°E, Karwar, Agumbe, Medikeri, Chennai, 16.0°N/87.0°E, 18.0°N/90.0°E and 21.0°N/92.0°E.

Conditions are favorable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Bay of Bengal and some parts of northeastern states during next 24 hours.

Forecast:

The Low Pressure System is expected to track initially mainly Northerly direction. Subsequently the System is expected to take a North Westerly direction. There are differing tracks from different forecast models. Now both GFS & ECMWF are agreeing with out come till 11th June 1200z.

Saurashtra, Gujarat & Kutch could get light scattered shower/rain due to nearby clouding associated with the Low Pressure on two to three days during 10th to 14th June. Updates will be given as and when warranted.
