Cyclonic Storm “MAHASEN” has again regained wind speeds of 50 knots ( 93 Kms/hour on a one minute average wind speed basis) as per JTWC today 13th May 2013 at 0000 UTC (05 .30 am. IST) located currently at 12.0 N. and 86.7 E. with Central Pressure of 985 Mb. Pressure.

As per RSMC/IMD Bulletin No. BOB 01/2013/14 (corrected) issued at 0900 hours IST Dated 13-05-2013 the cyclonic storm MAHASEN over southeast Bay of Bengal moved northwards with a speed of 10 kmph during past 6 hrs and lay centred at 0530 hrs IST of 13th May 2013 near latitude 11.50 N and longitude 86.50 E, about 750 km northwest of Car Nicobar, 650 km northeast of Trincomalee, 700 km southeast of Chennai and 1330 km south-southwest of Chittagong. It would move initially north-northwestwards during next 12 hours and thereafter northeastwards towards Bangladesh-Myanmar coast.
Under the influence of this system, rainfall at many places with isolated heavy rainfall would occur over Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 48 hrs.
Squally winds speed reaching 40-45 kmph gusting to 60 kmph would prevail along Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 48 hours. Sea condition will be rough to very rough along and off Andaman and Nicobar Islands during this period.
Fishermen of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are advised not to venture into the sea during next 48 hrs.
