Current weather Conditions on 17th July 2009 @ 5.00 pm.
The well marked low pressure from northwest Bay of Bengal two days back tracked westwards and weakened to a Low Pressure and subsequently became a Cyclonic Circulation lying near South Rajasthan- West M.P. North Gujarat border areas this evening. Convective clouds are present in the Arabian Sea South West of Saurashtra and also West & South West of the Cyclonic Circulation. The System is expected to move in Westwards direction & will pass over North Gujarat and subsequently Kutch and into the Arabian Sea.
Saurashtra & Gujarat has been receiving good round of rainfall from 14th July. The Barometric Pressure over Saurashtra has been decreasing and has gone below 993 Mb. at Rajkot. Rajkot and the catchment area of Bhadar Dam have not received good rainfall compared to rest of Saurashtra.
Forecast: Rainfall expected over South Rajasthan, North Gujarat, Kutch and Saurashtra during the next two days due to the above system with Isolated heavy rainfall over most of these regions.
