Very Severe Cyclonic Storm current location is 21.0N 59.1E and on the verge of making Landfall over the Coastal area of AL-SHARQIYA Region of Oman. Winds are 140 Kms./Hour gusting to 170 Kms/Hour with Central pressure of about 974 Mb. The Wave height is 10 meters. Cyclone PHET has tracked Northerly direction with a little western inclination towards Coastal area of AL-SHARQIYA Region of Oman. Influence of Western disturbance on this System should also be watched carefully, since it will decide the fate of this system.
Heavy rains and winds forecast for these regions till 5th June 2010.
People should be vigilant and take precautions about very windy conditions as well as flash flooding.
Currently maximum risk is for Oman, however, it is important for all Countries from Oman, Iran, Pakistan & India to be watchful and closely monitor PHET for effects of Winds and rain in their regions.
Saurashtra & Gujarat:
Even though the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm PHET is about 1200 Kms. from Saurashtra Coast, due to the Intensity of this System, currently expect Windy conditions and Scattered Hit & Miss Rain for Saurashtra from the moisture incursion from Arabian Sea.
