Nargis Tracking Eastwards – Landfall Over Ayeyarwady Delta By This Afternoon

Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "NARGIS" In The Bay Of Bengal

Current Conditions on 2nd May 2008 at 8.00 am.

Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "NARGIS" in the Bay of Bengal has strengthened to 110 knots and is currently 100 knots and has tracked mainly Eastwards in the last Eighteen hours. The Eye is clearly visible. Nargis is expected to strike the Aeyarwady Delta Coast of Myanmar by afternoon of 2nd May 2008 IST. Myanmar should declare high alert to face the on slougth of "NARGIS" over the densely populated area of Ayeyarwady Division and Yangon Division. Storm surge could cause heavy flooding over the Ayeyarwady Delta area.
