Southwest Monsoon Withdraws From Kutch, North Saurashtra & North Gujarat

Current Weather Conditions on 27th September 2012 @ 6.00 am.

As had been indicated  in earlier post dated 25th September that Southwest Monsoon would withdraw initially from North Saurashtra and then will withdraw from the rest of Saurashtra; IMD has announced on 26th September the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from North Saurashtra. The line of withdrawal passes through Porbandar on West Coast of Saurashtra and across Saurashtra towards Vallabh Vidyanagar which would mean that the Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from Rakjot.

As per IMD:

The southwest monsoon has further withdrawn from remaining parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan, some more parts of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and north Arabian Sea and some parts of west Madhya Pradesh.The withdrawal line passes through Lat. 29.0° N / Long. 81.0° E, Kheri, Kanpur, Guna, Ratlam, Vallabh Vidhyanagar, Porbandar, Lat. 21.0° N / Long. 67.0° E and Lat . 21.0°N / Long. 60.0° E.

Conditions are favorable for further withdrawal of southwest monsoon from remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh, and north Arabian Sea, some parts of Bihar and some more parts of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat during next 2 to 3 days.

 

Withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon Up to 26th September 2012

 

 

There has been some scattered rain in Amreli and Bhavnagar District up to morning of 26th September wherein Amreli received 10 mm., Khambha 18 mm., Rajula 13 mm., Palitana 8 mm.

There is an Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation over Central Bay of Bengal extending up to Midtropospheric levels which persists. Current analysis suggest that this UAC will linger in the Bay of Bengal for whole September. Subsequently, when a Low pressure forms it would also linger over the Bay of Bengal for few days.

Forecast: Scattered showers possible over South Saurashtra for a day or so and subsequently Southwest Monsoon expected to withdraw from rest of Saurashtra.
